MY TEAM FOR THE MATCH(XI)
I just finished the 2026 PFA TOTY event match on eFootball and I’m still buzzing. The reward was a PFA Selection Contract so you know the stakes were high. I went into it nervous because the whole thing was built like a showcase for the best players in the game. The match loaded up in the eFootball Stadium with the banners everywhere and the scoreboard said "2026 PFA TOTY Challenge Event". From kickoff you could feel this wasn’t a normal game. Every player on the other team was a nominee for the PFA award, so I was basically up against a full team of legends and meta cards. Haaland was there, De Bruyne, the keepers, defenders, everyone who got nominated. It felt like playing the final boss of the event. I told myself just stay solid, take one chance, and see if I could walk away with the contract.
The only goal came in the 44th minute and it had to be Wayne Rooney. My 97-rated Rooney card. We worked it up the pitch, passing around, and then the ball fell to him just outside the box. I took the shot and it flew straight past the keeper. 1-0. The screen popped up "Marvellous Goal! Now Keep Going!" and Rooney ran to the corner with his arms in the air. The whole team in the green and yellow kits ran over and started jumping on him. Nedved, Gerrard, everyone was in the celebration. The replay showed the keeper diving but Rooney’s shot was too clean. That one goal was the difference. The commentator even said "The goal scorer for Chelsea after 44 minutes is number eight" and I just started screaming. 1-0 up against a full PFA nominee team felt massive.
The second half was pure defense. After I scored, the game didn’t let up at all. Haaland was running at my backline, De Bruyne was pinging passes, and every attack felt like it could be an equalizer. I had players like Manuel Akanji and Quincy Owusu-Abeyie tracking back, making tackles, clearing balls. I was switching constantly, using Dash & Pressure, just trying to hold the 1-0 lead. Around the 46th minute they were pressing so hard I thought I was going to concede, but my defense held. The game kept flashing "Match-up More and More" and I knew I had to stay focused. It wasn’t pretty football, it was just survival. When the final whistle went and it said 0-1 I couldn’t believe it. I beat a full PFA nominee XI with one goal.
But here’s the crazy part. Winning 1-0 doesn’t end it. For the PFA Selection Contract event you have to play again, and again, and each time the team you face is made up of the players and keepers nominated for the PFA award. So that means next match I’m running into Haaland again, plus the rest of them. Every single nominee is going to be on the other side at some point. It’s like the event is testing if you can consistently beat the best cards in the game, not just get lucky once. Rooney got me the win this time but I know next game I’ll need everyone to step up. The reward is worth it though. A PFA Selection Contract means I could pull one of those nominated players for my squad and that’s huge.
Now I’m sitting here with the 1-0 win behind me, Rooney on the scoresheet, and the knowledge that I have to go again. Beating Haaland and the rest of the PFA nominees once is good, but I have to do it multiple times to actually claim the contract. The event is no joke. The stadium was packed, the atmosphere was crazy, and every tackle felt important. I’m going to take a break, reset, and then jump back in because I want that contract bad. If Rooney can score against them once, he can do it again. Let’s see if I can keep beating the PFA team and walk away with one of those award nominees for my team ❤️
