Bro this match was everything. I was sitting 16th and Nottingham RW was just 1 point above me in 15th, so it was literally a 6-point game. Lose this and I stay stuck at the bottom, win it and I climb past them. The pressure was mad from warm-up. I knew I had to win by all means, no excuses. From kickoff it was tough though — Nottingham RW didn’t come to play. They sat back, made it hard to break through, and I was getting frustrated real quick.
Then Batistuta happened 😂 First half, out of nowhere, he just let one fly. Screamer. Absolute banger. That goal came from nothing but it was exactly what I needed. 1:0 up and the whole game changed. After that I kept pushing for a second because 1 goal never feels safe, but nothing was going in. Shots wide, keeper saving, last minute blocks — name it. But the most important thing is we didn’t concede. I parked it a bit in the second half, made sure the defense was solid, and just rode out the stress till the final whistle.
That win took me from 16th straight to 14th. Finally out of the relegation zone feeling and it felt good 😁 But I’m not celebrating too hard because 13th is still 4 to 6 points ahead of me. So I can’t slack. If I want to really compete up the table I need to win the next two matches back to back.
It wasn’t pretty and I need more goals, but 3 points is 3 points. Batistuta’s screamer won it for me today. Now it’s back to training and figuring out how to turn these 1:0s into bigger wins.
