I told myself I’d just grind division rivals for a few minutes today 😂 Nothing serious, just hop on, play one or two and log out. So I went into division 7 for my second game. The moment the match started the AI did what they always do — started passing around like it’s tiki-taka training. Pass pass, keep the ball for like 3 minutes straight. You know that feeling where your players are just chasing shadows and looking stupid? Yeah that one.
Normally when they do that I lose my head and start Goulding everybody 😂 Just fly tackles, pull shirts, anything to get the ball back because it’s so annoying. But today I said nah, no aram ball. Let me try and play like a normal person for once. So I didn’t foul anyone. I just tracked back, stayed compact, and waited. And of course they punished me for being patient. Early goal. I was vexed, I won’t lie. It made me feel useless like “bro I’m doing everything right and they still scored”. The thought to quit crossed my mind but I remembered it’s only div 7. There’s no way I’m losing that easily to AI.
So I reset. Few minutes after the goal I got one back. It was a scrappy one but I’ll take it. That equalizer changed everything for me. My players suddenly started moving better, I was winning second balls, and the AI wasn’t keeping possession like before. Before halftime I added another one and went in 2-1 up. Second half I just kept pushing. The AI was still doing their possession nonsense but I wasn’t panicking this time. I kept my shape and waited for my chances. Then finally the third goal came — that was the winner. After that I was just chasing the fourth goal but my shots kept hitting the keeper or going wide 😂 Typical FIFA.
Ended 3-1. Not a perfect game but I’m happy with it. The biggest win for me was that I didn’t rage quit and I didn’t start fouling people out of frustration. I actually played football and it worked. Division 7 AI is still annoying with their endless passing, but if I can stay calm like that I think I can climb back up. One game at a time. Confidence is slowly coming back.
