Bro this Cabo Verde vs Morocco 🇲🇦 match was honestly one of the toughest games I’ve played in a while. On paper Morocco should have destroyed me. They have Hakimi running up and down the wing, Brahim Diaz doing all those skill moves, and their whole squad just looks stacked compared to Cabo Verde. I was going into this thinking "nah I’m gonna get smoked" because Cabo Verde players are so underrated in the game. Their stats are low, they’re slow, and anytime I tried to dribble through the middle my player would just fall. Like I’m holding the ball and the slightest pressure from a Moroccan defender and boom possession gone. It was so frustrating in the first half because I couldn’t even get near their box.
First goal came around 81st minute and I was already stressed. Morocco’s defense was a wall. Every time I tried to pass through the middle Hakimi or one of their CBs would cut it out. So I said okay let me change tactics. I started playing crossing balls from the wings because playing on the ground wasn’t working. Soon as I put a cross in, Elos Bopp was there and he headed it in. 1-0. The replay showed how Morocco just couldn’t deal with the aerial balls. In the video you see the ball come in and their defenders are all jumping but nobody clears it. Bopp scores and the whole Cabo Verde team runs to celebrate. That goal gave me life because I knew if I could score once I could score twice.
The second goal came right after at 81:08 and that’s when I knew I had them. Same thing, crossing ball again. This time Bopp gets it and it’s 2-0. You can see in the clip Cabo Verde players like Anderson Piauiere and the number 19 running to hug him. They were all hyped. Meanwhile Morocco players like number 6 and 18 were just standing there with hands on their hips looking dead. Their keeper was in yellow running back to goal looking frustrated. Morocco brought in subs too like Ayoub El Kaabi and Brahim Diaz but nothing was working. Every time I got the ball my players would still fall under pressure, but because I was crossing instead of trying to dribble, it didn’t matter. Small pressure, lose possession, but the cross was already gone.
Playing against Morocco felt unfair because their squad is just too good. Brahim Diaz was doing stepovers, Hakimi was overlapping every attack, and their midfield was pressing me like crazy. But Cabo Verde’s defense held up. I had to park the bus for like 20 minutes and just wait for chances. Once I had the ball I couldn’t do tiki-taka or anything fancy because my players are too weak. The moment a Moroccan player touched them they’d fall. So I just started launching it wide, crossing, and praying someone was there. That’s how both goals happened. It wasn’t pretty but it worked. After 82 minutes Morocco was making substitutions like crazy trying to get back but I was already 2 up.
Ended the match 2-0 and I was shocked. Cabo Verde beating Morocco with Hakimi and Brahim Diaz on the pitch feels crazy. The game showed "Today's Goal: 1" for Bopp and honestly he carried me. Morocco dominated possession but they couldn’t break us down. Every time they got close my defenders would just kick it out and I’d go back to crossing. Tough match but a perfect result. If you’re playing with an underrated team like Cabo Verde, forget trying to play through the middle. Just go wide, cross early, and hope your striker is clinical. 2-0 win and I’m taking it 💪
