“Araw ng Kagitingan” ~ “Day of Valor” is a regular holiday in the Philippines that is a part of a long weekend. It occurs on or around April 9 but this year 2018 we’ll celebrate it on April 9.
Many streets are closed and public transport routes may be redirected to give way for parades. It commemorates the heroism of the Filipinos and American troops during the World War II.
