I disagree, it's work but everything takes work to be successful.
Everyday I'm growing and the working gets easier. I'm not earning consistently high but for the amount of time I've been here and having posted less than 30 posts total, what I am earning for both author rewards and curation is pretty satisfactory to me.
You can compare stats on steemworld.org/@kharma.scribbles - one thing I look at when trying to 'diagnose' a person's earning trouble is that line at the end of the first section - Vote CSI - and it looks at how many people they have reached out to in the last 7 days and how much of their upvotes are going to self-votes instead of others. You would be surprised (or maybe not) how many people are selfish and expect the rewards to come to them when they are barely out there networking enough. It's honestly not that hard.
People need to post less frequently and curate and engage with others A LOT more. This way when they do post they spend more time on it and putting out one great post every 3 days is better than 3 shitty posts a day..
