Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever... It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.”
— Aaron Siskind

I have always loved pictures because as someone who values memories, pictures are a way to remember and capture moments that even in years to come would bring feelings of joy or sadness.

A few years ago, I lost my phone with almost 10,000 pictures and I didn't care about the device or the documents I had in them, all I could think about were the pictures I had that I might never see again.

For this week's posting topics titled "without", we are asked to choose between a variety of topics and I chose option four which says;

Topic four: Without photos

Share three photos you cannot live without and explain them: Where they were taken, what they mean to you, and why they are so treasured. {The photos must be your own, not stock images.}

After seeing this, I didn't even need to go searching in my phone because the pictures I am about to share are in a separate folder making them easily accessible.

FIRST PICTURE

If I ever lost this picture, it will be like losing a part of my heart because this is the only picture I have of my father.

This picture was taken a few months before he passed away in front of our home and I still cry when I look at it.

I can't live without this because often times when I feel lost, I go talking to him through this picture and it brings me peace.

SECOND PICTURE

This was the first ever picture my family took together and it is so important to me because just by looking at it, I can literally remember the laughter and silliness that went on that day.

We had planned a surprise photoshoot for my mother's 60th birthday in our home and it was a bit crazy because there had to be a lot of underground work so my mother didn't realize until the day but, thankfully, it went well and this picture is valued by everyone in my family.

THIRD PICTURE

I had just turned 21 in this picture and growing up in a family that wasn't financially buoyant, I never celebrated birthdays or even had cake on my birthday, even if I didn't mind it because of the love I usually got, it was something I always dreamt of.

On this day, one of my closest friends decided to surprise me with a cake, he didn't live in my state but made plans with a baker in my state and for the first time ever, I got cake.

This picture easily reflects what I consider as one of the happiest I have been in my entire life.
