Often times I ask myself what the fate of Nigeria is? Would it get better after 2023 or were we going to plummet into the phase where Afghanistan had just entered?
In a country filled with lacking in so many vital areas and many citizens living in fear, the question asked would be “what the solution to Nigeria’s problem was”? Would it get better if power changed hands, or a younger person ruled, or has corruption eaten so deep into the soil that the only thing to do for people who want progress is to leave the country?
With naira gradually becoming dust, food becoming gold, and minimum wage staying the same, maybe the question we should be asking in no time would be to starve or not to starve (you get it?)
Now I can go on asking questions upon question and to keep on tackling this country, it is easier to find problems than solutions isn’t it? But let’s see if any solutions could be brought.
Like most things, Nigeria’s problem comes from an action that has brought an action that has brought a reaction so what can be done?
Maybe we can plan a coup and get all our leaders and lock them up like Daniel was in the bible, I am very sure it could help a bit but then again we would have some Judases that would betray us on our way to salvation so let’s remove that from our minds.
On actual solutions, I could probably give a few but it wouldn’t be anything mind-blowing that we haven’t heard before, like creating refineries to produce the over 6000 items that could be gotten from oil, or focusing on the 40 mineral materials we have. We could even instead of just selling our raw materials turn them into finished products and import that but that would just be stressful won’t it and oil is selling pretty well.
We could also increase our economic growth by increasing minimum wage above the inflation, reducing the cost of borrowing, and increase consumer spending or promoting investments but I think we should rather keep borrowing from the likes of China and devaluing our currency.
Maybe an economical boost might lead to the creation of jobs for youths, which also might lead to a reduction in crime, which might lead also to more investment from foreign investors and more boost in our economy but are the lazy youths that important anyway? My verdict says not so much.
We could also try to help the country by making it safe for people to visit which would require paying and recruiting trained policemen, providing guns of this decade and equipment that would aid the intelligent community to fight terrorism better, or maybe get a drone and missiles but no, let us forgive all the terrorist we have gotten and set them free like doves (a bit passionate about this part because I did spend 4 years in school getting a BSC in intelligence and security studies and well my degree feels like a waste of time).
Also, try in between to pay doctors and universities so they could stop striking but we could just chase them away from the embassy as a better solution.
Maybe after all this work we could promote tourism and encourage visitors to come which would also help the economy but I think it is wiser to travel to other countries for gelato.
I could probably go on and on but in the end, nothing would be done. Yes, it is not easy to work on these problems we are facing and even with the right measure being taken, it could take years to see the light at the end of the tunnel but wouldn’t that be better than waiting for the unknown to happen?
