Steem has always been headed in a certain direction for me.
My 2 year Steem anniversary is coming up which prompts me to go back in time a bit and figure out where I came from and where I expected to be by now.

Obviously this bear market threw a wrench in a lot of the plans that Steemit, Inc. had as well as many others here on Steem and throughout the Crypto Universe.
Since I joined Steem, the amazing future vision of SMTs — tokenizing the web — was the long-term focus.
We all patiently waited.. Weeks went by… Months went by… Then years went by.
It’s not like there was t any progress in this time frame. The Steem blockchain still pushed forward. Progress was still made. DApps were still launched. Businesses still flourished.
Despite the lack of progress from Steemit, Inc. throughout this time, Steem still continued pretty strong even though the price was on a slippery slope down to $0.20.
I watched in awe as my investment shrank and shrank in value.. I bought a lot of Steem sub $1 but I also bought a lot at $4 back in 2018. It’s a sad thing to experience, but I kept buying over time and I’m happy with my positions at the current levels with dollar cost averaging.
The Thing that Will Save Steem
Steem Engine was launched just a few months ago. This was the indication to me that something was coming. Something big.
Then as the weeks went by, Steem Engine rapidly improved and iterated. The vision of the blockchain of opportunity became a little clearer and Steem’s future once again seemed to be on the right track.
Now that Palnet.io has been released, we can see the vision of tokenizing the web coming to fruition.
What’s even cooler? None of this happened because of Steemit, Inc… It’s all been a community effort as well as the effort of a few developers and a witness who seems to be hell bent on making Steem the blockchain that could.
We now have the ability for communities to tokenize themselves with Steem Engine. Scot improvements are being made and iterations seem to be happening on an exponential scale.
Tokenizing the Web is No Longer a Pipe Dream. It’s a Reality and It Can Be Seen In Action on Palnet.io and Splintertalk.io
I imagine that a lot of businesses and communities are seeing the success of Palnet as an indication of where they should take themselves and focus their efforts.
By the end of 2019, I’m speculating that there will be at least 10 SCOT-empowered condenser interfaces that will have at least 1000 daily active users.
This is just the beginning of the even greater vision - thousands of these interfaces all empowering their niche communities in different ways. All built on top of the Steem blockchain.
