The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has ordered the arrest of Kassim Afegbua, the media aide to former President Ibrahim Babangida.
Afegbua had earlier issued a statement on Sunday, February 4, 2018, purportedly signed by the former President, reportedly advising President Buhari to resign.
In the statement, Babangida called for a new generation of leaders to take over the leadership of Nigeria.
Another statement also made the rounds in the media dismissing Afegbua and denying the first statement.
According to The Nation, a source in the presidency said that IBB’s media aide is being accused of issuing a fake statement.
