“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” – John 8:12.
To live in fear is to live in darkness. Darkness creates a mental picture which does not exist. When you sit in darkness, all sort of thoughts run through your mind; you can imagine that a ghost or an evil presence is in the room with you. Fear cripples you. It makes you think negative. Fear kills faith and breeds doubt.
In order to overcome fear, we must walk in the light. This light is found in Jesus. Isaiah 9:2 (NIV) says, “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.” Anyone living in darkness is limited in vision and his movement is restricted, but when light comes everything around you becomes clear.
The light of the Lord makes you see that everything is possible in Christ. And, you can do everything through Christ who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13). We acquire this light by studying the Word. More Word intake equals more light or revelation. When the word of God becomes real to you it grants you the boldness to do anything or believe anything.
As you read the Word, darkness gives way to light, thereby killing fear and increasing your faith. The light of God can terminate sickness. By studying the Bible, you get to know that the finished work on the Cross includes your healing. In view of this, you don’t walk in fear when sickness confronts you, you rather exercise your authority over it. Do not entertain fear, children of light are not fearful.
