REASONS FOR THANKSGIVING
“In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18.
Thanksgiving as the name implies is giving thanks. And God loves cheerful givers. Do not see giving God thanks as a compulsion, it must be done voluntarily. Always find a reason to thank God in any situation. To be thankful is to have access to God. It gives you audience with the Father. Thanksgiving is a projection of God’s goodness in your life.
Thanksgiving opens your eyes to the helplessness of man without God. A lifestyle of thanksgiving keeps you humble. The Psalmist says, “Who is man that you are mindful of, the son of man that you care for him.” Without the grace, strength and wisdom of God, we can’t achieve anything.
Thanksgiving also shows you the depth of God’s love. 1 John 3:1 (NIV) says, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” The love of man cannot be compared to the unconditional love of God. A Great Father who sees through us and meets us at the point of our needs.
Thanksgiving gives you hope. Any act of God in our life is a testimony which gives us the assurance that once God has done this, He is able to do what we desire.
Thanksgiving can prolong your life. Take cue from the Israelites who died in the wilderness due to murmuring. Thanksgiving brings the joy in you to life. A grateful person is a happy person. Let God smell your thanks offering.
