“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.” – James 5:16.
We all need mentors, people we look up to as we journey through the different stages of life. There is nothing new under the sun, what you are going through now someone has passed through it already. There is nothing wrong with sharing your challenges with your mentor or a peer who is like a brother or sister. The Bible says, two are better than one. If you are not able to pray or you are discouraged, another person can help you bounce back.
You might be struggling with a particular weakness or even suffering from guilt, your spiritual mentor can help you out of it. Don’t act as a superman or superwoman, when you need help please ask. Avoid dying in silence, there are godly people you can trust to grow in the Lord. Be accountable to someone, allow yourself to be assessed and listen to instructions.
Let someone check up on you when you are absent from church or criticize you when you go off track. James 5:19-20 (NLT) ~ “My dear brothers and sisters, if someone among you wanders away from the truth and is brought back, you can be sure that whoever brings the sinner back will save that person from death and bring about the forgiveness of many sins.” Share ideas with your mentor and let them guide you.
Study the Bible with your peers, form a prayer cell with like-minded believers to maintain the fire. Ask others, how they combine spirituality with their career, how they raise their kids, among others. All these help you to be a better person. Don’t isolate yourself from people, build solid relationships to get to the top.
