BE ROOTED IN CHRIST
“Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.” – Colossians 2:7.
Any tree with shallow roots is not storm-resistant. The only way we can grow deeper roots is to abide in God. Build your life on the rock who is Jesus. The New Living Translation says, “Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”
By daily abiding in God’s presence, our roots grow stronger and stronger. Our lives are built to resist any storm. Then our faith also grows. The strength of every tree is revealed by a storm or wind. We receive nourishment as we dwell in Christ, our roots spread out and we bear fruits.
Jeremiah 17:8 (NIV) says, “They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” When your “leaves are always green” you are constantly rejuvenated. As you age, you grow younger and stronger.
In addition, the joy of the Lord keeps you afloat in any situation. You never know depression and dryness because the Holy Spirit is always irrigating your life. Life in Christ cannot be substituted with anything. Being rooted in Christ is living in a realm of rainforest. Beloved, being in and out of the faith doesn’t make you grow. Be planted in Christ to grow your faith.
