Everything on smartphone camera

Since I'm not able to upload images from my drive or gallery so i want be able to show any picture of stuff, but if u want see them then u can go the google link below and see how it looks like.

Whenever u come across a camera basically a mobile camera and see specs shit u see some notations but dont understand what does it mean or how much is good for you and sufficient for you so reading this blog might give you a good eposure to the stuff,So lets start

and here it goes

1)first is about sensor there are few sensors available are CMOS,CCD,BSI etc out of which cmos is cheaper one and consumes less power and BSI are in standard phones that are costly and uses less energy and better performance in capturing light then cmos as basic work of sensor is to get light available at outside to sensor to make image brighter. The BSI term stands for back side illuminated it actually flips up ur sensor and then and protective covering is on back side of it and thus doesnt allow the light to go out and thus captures most o it and gives to sensor.

2)second comes sensor size it is basically u see( 1/some number) is actually a bit difficult to understand but best way to understand is smaller number below 1 the bigger sensor and thus more pixels can come to it and so more detailed amount of picture comes and thus u get bettet image you get.The values u can see in the link given below.

3)third comes aperture ,in aperture u see how much that aperture opens to collect data for sensor. Here u see it in specs this way:f/some number like f/2.2 or f/1.4 here the trick is more smaller the number u see the more ur aperture opens up and thus better u get light on sensor.
This ranges fromf/1.4 to f/22.

  1. fourth is lens, lens is not actually important as dont find any specs sheet telling lens specs and also its not that important.

5)OIS is an abbreviation of optical image stabilization which means it rectifies all the shakage of image happened while capturing the image.Suppose u take an image at that time there is some sort shakage of camera happening and thus u get an blur image so having this feature will rectify the image and u will get the clear image.

6)FLASH:There are various flash mechanism available ie u find xenon flash, single LED flash,Dual LED flash ,Dual tone LED, flash,Quad LED flash, etc types of flashes available.

Here xenon flash u dont see nowadays as it was seen in old nokia phones, single LED flash is most frequent one that u see in normal samsumg or xiomi or motorola low budget phone.Dual LED flash is found in some high end phone of samsung were u get dual LED flash. Then next is dual tone LED flash were actually u see two LED that is one in yellowish shade and other in some orange or piche colour that is more better than single LED flash as it adjustes ur light combination to surrounding and thus makes it look far better as compared to Single LED. It actually makes the combination of warmer and cooler light ie (yellowish one is cooler and orangish type is warmer) by algorithm such that it will allow u to take good quality image that has balanced light. Then latest iphone 7 got quad LED flash were u get two yellowish and two orangish shaded flash which also gives better result than dual tone LED flash. It depends on types of camera phone u buy it varies from phone to phone. The significance of flash light is not more at daytime but it actually increases when lowlight or very less light is there,at that place u will see that this combination of Flash light will be boon for our phone and get better results.According to outside light available different flash light with the help of software comes out in different proportions and thus u get better quality image.

7)FOCUS:There are four types of focus system uptill now in market 1)contrast based autofocus

2)laser auto focus.

3)phase detection auto focus.

4)dual cameras.

1)Contrast based autofocus is the most basic technology used in all smartphones camera and it capture based on contrast of light.

Means when u capture a photo the camera will move and back and forth try to detect the place of less contrast and that of more contrast region and will roughly identify the subject an thus click the photo.

Also the technology is completely reliable on light.

The speed of this technique depends on the light present outside and the speed of processor. If light is good enough and processor is also good the photo will be quickly clicked and if not good enough it might take time.
The contrast based auto focus will not be able to perform in low light or to capture pic of moving object.

Laser autofocus is one of the best autofocus technique of market and is done in this way

The camera sends a beam of light in the direction u asked it to go i.e when u tap on the area u want to focus and light goes on that area and comes back, since speed of laser light is constant and time is being calculated by processor so by formula speed is equal to distance upon time will tell the exact location of object and thus get a good focused image of subject.

The camera will perform good when a object is moving and can give good picture but this camera fails when there are multiple subjects to focus on thus at that time camera shifts to contrast based autofocus. The camera will also not perform good when subject is very far from camera but will give good pic in lowlight.

Phase detection autofocus:This technique is mostly used in Iphones and is supposed to be one of the best till now in this technique the lens is curved so the camera captures right most part and then captures left most part of subject and by calculation it try to locate where they meet and thus helps the camera to get good image.
The problem with this are same that contrast based autofocus.

Dual cameras:The dual camera is not best autofocus technology as they are too basically build on contrast based autofocus system here the function of one camera is capture subject and other camera is to capture depth of surrounding and thus u get mixed focusing technology here. Also nowadays dual camera are served for different purpose hence they are not used in focusing of image thus this technology is not used in focusing of image but it is actually used to produce some effects in pic captured like bokeh, wide angle, depth etc

So its not always true that phase detection is better than laser autofocus or dual cameras are better phase detection it varies from situation to situation it is on us weather which technology will do the job and get u best picture ,but one thing is for sure that all the three technologies are best and will improve in future time.

Pixel size is actually important and it is always in comparison with sensor size. The pixel size is something u see in microns and sensor size is actually 1/some number.See actually a sensor is big because of two reason either u have larger number of pixels are on to it or u have kept big-big pixel in it.

The effect it will cause is large pixel size camera will collect very minute details of photo and allow it to zoom get each and every thing in detail of photo, but when ur sensor is big and big pixel size is used then also u will get good picture but detailing of photo wont be that good so it all depends on smartphone to smartphone thus pixel size varies from 1.1 micron to 8.4 micron accordingly u can judge out picture quality.

Lets hope now when u compare ur smartphone camera specs u will understand it in better way and make a right choice for u.
