Do you know how air purifiers works?

Here is a perfect explanation for the stuff.
Researchers and scientist say that air inside the house is more contaminated than the air outside its approx 5 times impure than outside one.
The air inside may be impure due to the following reason: Moisture can lead to the development of mold and mold spores. Forced-air heating and cooling systemscirculate dust particles and bacteria throughout the house. Pets shed fur and give off dander, while smokers pump toxins into the air. Pollen and other outdoor allergens can blow in through open doors and windows (or through a window or door screen) and become caught in carpet or upholstery.
So here are types of filter available in market that helps to purify air and what types of technology they use and which one will be best for u lets see....
1)First one is one of the most basic one that purifies air that comes to it with help very fine small sieve that captures or traps all the dust, smoke, pet dander, toxin, etc particles that are very small and even cannot be seen by our naked eye. The accepted benchmark for air filters has been set by the High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters, which are guaranteed to trap 99.97% of airborne particles larger than 0.3 microns.
here the particle having size bigger can than 0.3 micron (while 1 micron is 1÷25400 of an inch) can be easily purified. Our naked eye can see only size of particle there upto 10 micron ,so that particles cannot be easily detected by us, can be also easily filter by sieve, this most basic one and this was the first technology used in air purifiers. Here the disadvantage is that bacteria and virus are much smaller in size so they can be easily escaped by that sieve so we need some other technolgy that can help us to rectify this limitation.
Also for cleaning bacteria some air purifier company provides with UV light mechanism that kills the bacteria present into it thus cleans our air.

2)Ionising purifiers,in ionising purifiers what happens is imparts some charge to the particle going through it.The charge might be positive that is either taking electron from it or be negative add an electron to it and thus there is also one separate metals plates charge with positive and negative thus attracts those particles and eventually purifies air and even some charge particles are in air they will get attracted with opposite charge and thus there weight becomes heavier and they settles out of air and air gets purified.

3)Third one is ozone generator,in this one the machine ionizes oxygen to ozone molecule present in the atmosphere by passing it to UV light. The ozone molecule can act as a disinfectant and oxidizes all the molecule, but there is a catch with the technology that in sky when lightning is passed through oxygen molecule it will form ozone and thus will protect from UV rays of sun and when ozone is present on surface of earth it is very harmful to human health and causes irration ,nausea, can spoil our breathing pipe, etc and hence this technology is mostly avoided.

  1. Electrostatic precipitating cleaners or electronic air purifiers draw particles in by fan and charge them with a series of high-voltage wires. Several plates (precipitating cells) carry the opposite electrical charge and attract the contaminants as they pass by the plates. Electronic air purifiers are perfect for individuals who don't want to worry about the costly replacements of HEPA filters. The downside to these units is that many create a nasty byproduct, ozone.

5)Electret filters in air purifiers use synthetic fibers that create static charges to attract particles. Electret filters are offered in a variety of types including plain, pleated, disposable or reusable. Depending on the type of filter you need, will determine how often the filter requires replacement.
This are types of purifiers available in market.
The next thing is "how do you know which air cleaners are effective?" Fortunately, there is an industry standard that makes it easy to compare air cleaners. The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) assigns a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) to air cleaners. AHAM runs a standard test to see how well an air cleaner removes certain contaminants from a volume of air. An air cleaner bearing the AHAM seal will have three CADR numbers listed: one for tobacco smoke, one for pollen and one for dust. A higher number indicates a greater ability to clean air, with maximums of 450 for pollen and smoke and 400 for dust [ref]. AHAM recommends using an air cleaner with a CADR number at least two-thirds the area of the room.
