Rattan is a climbing plant in the palm family. The way to harvest rattan in the forest is to cut the base and then pull it. It seems so simple, but if you imagine that this plant has thorns almost all over and grows so tightly, it becomes a complicated job, and can only be done by someone with special skills. I have tried to get closer to this plant, but just a little closer, I was trapped and couldn't move because the spikes had pierced my clothes. That's just about harvesting it in the forest.
