When we walk by the sea, they appear to be moving fast, running, to then disappear into burrows, or when the burrows are out of reach, they immediately slip under the ripples. One of them, suddenly, was seen standing in front of me only a few meters. I also then stopped for a moment, just stared at this ghost, then walked slowly, hoping it wouldn't run away. As it turns out, it's waiting, and doesn't move until I can actually approach it. It's called the ghost crab because of its nocturnality (see here), but in our place it's probably known only as sand crab.
One claw is larger than the other, the eyestalk is thick and elongated (see here).
