This scenario reminded me of a friend who had to live her sister. Her sister was only in her early 20s then. Began having muscle control issues, bumping into things, coordination mishaps, stumbles and walking problems. It was eventually diagnosed as ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease.
This sentence summed up the situation.
...It was my Mount Everest, and I needed to climb it so my (2 yr. old) son would be safe.
Some quick thinking, focused, and had only one plan but it was far better than none.
