Hello beautiful humans!

It's been over a year since I finished my "2 Minute STEEM Tips" series... and in that time not only has the block-chain hard-forked, but SO many other things have changed. From the death of dtube and rise of 3speak, to the birth of various new games, dApps, and plug-ins, our blockchain is an ever-evolving ecosystem.

Since I've started hyping the chain again, and getting more friends onboarded (3 of them just recently: leaf-loves-water@leaf-loves-water, nanosphere@nanosphere, and mahanbir@mahanbir), it has become clear that I need to re-start my series, now re-branded as Kenny's Hive Hints. Ditching the "2 minutes" because it was rarely true.

For this announcement episode, I'm coming to you with my good friend @ELAmental, right from the set of his Backyard Cannabis Farming series! Join us as we discuss a few of the biggest keys to getting a successful start on Hive, and he drops a few sneak peeks at his upcoming projects.

The Big 5

Since I did want to add some specific knowledge to this video, not just promo & plugs, here's the list of the 5 most important things (at least as they came to mind that evening) to get started:

  1. Know the difference between your private keys (Master > Active > Posting)
  2. Back up your master/recovery key on paper somewhere. If your devices are gone, are you locked out?
  3. Start using the Hive Keychain plugin
  4. Community! Let your friends know you've joined, find communities, start following people
  5. Have no expectations - Just keep doing what excites you

2 Minute STEEM Tips (the old series)

Not all of this is still relevant; certainly none of it is recently updated. I have bolded out the episodes that do have the most still-useful information. Just something to hold space as I start into this new series!

  1. Voting
  2. Community-Driven Contests
  3. Connecting IRL

There will be new episodes of this series coming out every day or two, until I feel like I've at least got the (updated) basics published, so I can just send this series to folks who are getting started, instead of having to walk each one through all the intricacies.

Be sure to follow my blog so you don't miss an episode!
