Guide your utterances!
This is going to be a long read...
His business was doing great many years ago. He was the talk of the town.
His products were working extremely well. Everybody was talking about him...about his products.
He came from Oke-Ogun area of Oyo State to Ibadan, where he became more popular than ever before. Always ever present in exclusive trade fairs. His, indeed was a blossoming business. He had competitors, but he was preferred.
Those were not the time of the accessibility of the Internet in Nigeria, but he used the available media resources to his maximum advantage. The radio, television and newspapers were all featuring his products...he was "trending" in his adopted niche.
When business started expanding, he invested in landed properties, bought and also built houses where he also does his consultations on a daily basis. As a matter of fact, you pay #200 to see him then. Those were days when the Naira still dances with some pride among its contemporaries!
But one day, he made an utterance that affected his entire business and which eventually culminated in the collapse of his empire...his life
He was on Radio, being interviewed by a popular presenter, on a popular programme, in a popular radio station. He gave good responses to all the questions asked until it got to the phone in segment. People were asking questions and he was responding...and then a woman called in, an old woman probably, and sick too. She was trying to pass her message across, but she was doing it slowly...
Our "big man" reacted! "Say whatever you wish to say on time", "am too busy for all this...many people want to talk to me".
This, my friend, is PRIDE personified.
He had the opportunity to call himself to order when the presenter called his attention to the tone of his remarks, but he was unrepentant in his utterances!
Needless to say, people reacted...and angrily too at his disgusting show of Pride!
He was a herbal health practitioner, and some of his competitors includes the well known YEMKEM International and many others!
This singular event became the talk of the town, and in time, his customers started leaving him for his competitors...and you know people? They started singing the praises of his competitors and thus, in no time at all, his empire collapsed! This chronology of events eventually led to his untimely demise
Dear businessman, your business is still in existence because you have people to sell to. How you treat these people will go a long way in determining whether you stay in business or you pack up!
One satisfied customer would bring at least ten new ones, but an angry customer could take away your entire clientele, if not properly managed. Their words of mouth can either kill or build your business!
How do you deal with complaints and claims?
What do you tell them when they approach you with these complaints?
How well do you manage these issues?
Do you usually leave them satisfied or angry?
You see, by keeping your clients waiting for too long, you give them the opportunity to look for options...and they could and would find a better one eventually! If you don't take care of them, your competitors will.
In closing, let me leave you with this..."Guard your words with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life...
YOUR CHOICE WILL LEAD TO YOUR EVENTUALITY
