For me, Christmas is Christmas and it's a special day in all ramifications.
When I was younger, I usually feel jiggy whenever Christmas is around the corner. As I grew older, you would think that I will feel indifferent about the whole occasion, but NO!
That magical Christmas feeling never left.
I couldn't celebrate the occasion with my family last year so, I decided to be with them this time around. My brother also came around on Christmas Eve and the whole house was bubbling with joy and merriment.
Christmas Eve is always filled with a lot of emotions. Our family tradition during such occasions is to attend crossover Mass before the D-day. In our parish, the crossover service started at 22:00 (24th December) and ended at 00:15 (25th December). After the mass Celebration, we exchanged pleasantries with other members of the church and wished each other a Merry Christmas before going back to our respective houses.
Several announcements were made in town about the ban of firecrackers, popularly referred to as Christmas Knockouts, but that didn't seem to be taken well by locals. As expected, different categories of firecrackers have been heard across all parts of the town. Even as I'm writing this, I can still hear the sounds of firecrackers. Lol.
Every other person over here woke up early on the morning of 25th December. They started getting things ready for the occasion, but I was curled up in bed till 9 am. That was because I was still fighting a combination of malaria, cold and co. Thankfully, it didn't cut short the Celebration for me. I was feeling cold, yet I only craved cold liquids.
By 10 am, all the cookings were already done and we had varieties of sumptuous edibles to enjoy. We also had varieties of drinks. The best of them all is the native palm wine which my Dad bought in the early hours of the day.
So far, this Christmas has been memorable to the core.
Merry Christmas to Y'all.
Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop Or Comma
