With 5'3" I stand tall (Come on! I'm tall when I'm with my Igorot friends). If I was a little inclined to be a physicist, I would calculate the trajectory of the ball. It is said accurately that a free throw must be thrown at 51 degrees while a 3-point shot should be at 45 degrees. But who cares about that when you are in an non-constant velocity while you gasp for air, with asthma crippling your chest. And so I just enjoy looking up the hoop, admiring its 10'feet height.
