Do not give them lies or stories or anything like that because when you do, you are answering them, or more specifically, "answering TO" them. Even your silence or a head nod can be easily perceived in their courts as consent to their authority over you.
I used to teach law with federal agents and police officers so it is very important to understand legalese and how they use it against people and citizens, of which I am neither. You don't have to fight their construct, just leave it entirely.
