tbh, i never liked Signal. they recently had a security breech of some sort too, it was on cointelegraph iirc. the use of Matrix protocol and the many apps that are using it is growing fast. it might be hard to get statistics on the actual user count, but if you do a search for commmunities, the list is growing by the day. legit groups too, not just name squatters and crap.
