Vigilante.tv had to do the same thing when they first spun their own server up as well. Get the content off of web2 and onto Hive first, then make the site look kinda nice, and then announce it to the world so people will come and check it out. First impressions are everything, so if they announce the new site before it is even ready, then people will just come and say "well this site is lame af" and leave.

Anyway, that's what flatearthdave.tv is doing too, he just got his server online a couple weeks ago, is now importing his old web2 stuff so that it can be commented on, then he will pretty it up a bit, then he will make the formal announcement to his web2 followers/subscribers.
