A lingering fear
Dread creeps to the depths

A promise of love
Sweetest of its kind—euphoric

A smile…or a chuckle
And that smooth, strong hand
Manicured, promising a fulfilling touch

In the peripheral shadows
Apprehension tilts its head
A peek—of what's to come

The sweet feeling within
Almost orgasmic

Yet instinct points to the danger
A sign?
Raw truth stares unflinching

In a quandary of reality
Lies the right choice to make

A choice of a ghastly end...
Wrapped in romance and bliss

Or eternal love and serenity
For a firm refusal

Truth still stares…unblinking
Unflinching.
