I wanted my storyline and design to be wildly unbelievable while addressing pollution of our waters.

You achieved both aims brilliantly in my opinion. The message underneath this well-written and fascinating story is sobering.

There is something quite disturbing about the nonchalance of the three friends toward the world around them and I think this symbolises our own attitude toward the environment. Miranda kicking the soda can away and complaining about the mess while being a part of the problem says a lot about how we humans have mismanaged the Earth. It's almost ironic that Miranda is the one who survives and has to face what their lifestyle has cost them. Plastic Island is a nightmare we humans have created for ourselves.

I enjoyed the dark humour and think this story should resonate with every reader. The worldbuilding is immersive too. The pink flamingo, the cocktail, the ring light, and especially Barnaby Plastique in his cape made of chip bags give the story an interestingly quirky quality.
