It's been a great day so far and as I am writing this, I am battling something. This is so hard that I don't know how to explain it in simple words. Although I believe most of us have experienced it. Some people face this issue head on and do something about it while some people find a way around it.

I have heard someone say that a problem can look like a mountain and to solve this problem, one can go through the mountain or if it seems impossible, then go around it.

I'm kind of done with my office work for the day and it's just past 4pm...I have like two more hours before the official closing time...but this issue is just bogging me! I took a stroll around, sat down at my desk, read some posts on hive, engaged a little and the problem is still there! It won't go away. What a torture!

I keep thinking —how do I solve this issue? Do I go through it and do what some people would do or go around it by ignoring it?

Question: Does ignoring a problem make it go away?

Well, I have resolved to ignore it….but it's pestering me real hard! 😄😄 I'm sure you are wondering what it is I am going on and on about.

So I looked up this issue online and discovered it's actually a 'thing' in psychology called pattern recognition. According to Wikipedia, The process of pattern recognition involves matching the information received with the information already stored in the brain. Making the connection between memories and information perceived is a step of pattern recognition called identification. Pattern recognition requires repetition of experience.

Now this gives you an inkling of what my dilemma is —patterns. We love patterns. Patterns can make an expert out of a person because of repeatedly executing an activity while the down side is it can make a person miss some vital things or see things that are not there.

I wondered why we human beings love patterns. Maybe because it's easy for our brains to adjust to a situation and move seamlessly through it again and again because it's familiar. But when a change or diversion occurs, it's like the wheels of our brains become clogged and grate against each other until they find a new rhythm that they can adjust to.

My body loves patterns and when I change some things, I struggle a little. I am sure you go through the same thing.

Okay, so this issue I am dealing with is sugar cravings! 😳😄 I've taken some sugar repeatedly over the past few days then I skipped today but my body won't let me be… it keeps pushing me, find something with sugar to eattttt!

So I have decided to go around it by ignoring it. Break in patterns! Fingers crossed. I'll hold on till I close from work and go home.

Thank you for reading about my struggle.
