Amidst the stoned faces standing in an orderly rank
He stands with them, upright and stoic
Unseen by everyone like an apparition
Day after day he shows up punctually
Completes his task like everyone else
Yet no recognition is thrown his way
Perhaps his introversion is a curse or a gift?
His solitude affords his mind tranquility
His silence enables efficiency in his tasks
Yet he longs for a glimpse of attention
But no one spares him a glance
Everyone lost in their tasks and lives
How does he not have a friend?
He fades into the background daily
Silently observing the lives of others
While he moves like a shadow in their midst
Until a new leader joins their rank
His efficient task speaks volume, raising eyebrows
No longer invisible, he stands as a star
Admirable medals placed on his uniform
All eyes behold him and wonder how he'd stay hidden
A fascinating mystery that cannot be solved
He smiles in an attempt to enjoy the attention
But another scowls in jealousy at him
His skins crawls and he longs for the shadows
To be invisible yet once again
Where it's all calm and no hate or pain
Its a cruel fate to most desire something
And it's torn away by scorn of another
Perhaps being invisible is a treasure after all.
