Blog #185: Do You Know That There Is A Moringa Ice Cream?

Moringa or we called it Malunggay in my mother tongue is a green leafy vegetable that gives many benefits to our health. It has a slightly bitter taste if you put too much amount of moringa but it is healthy.

I have tried moringa bread and moringa tea many times already and I didn't complain about the taste because I liked it. In fact there were times 2 years back that I made my own moringa tea.

But this time, I have came across a store in Dumaguete City selling moringa ice cream. "Is it real? How was the taste?" That were the questions I asked to the store crew. She just smiled at me and showed me the 520ml moringa ice cream. Yeah, it was absolutely real.

While I explored the City of Dumaguete, I saw this store from afar. This store is located near Silliman University Campus. What made me curious to get inside the store was after I've read this outside the store Home of Dumaguete's Fried Ice Cream. I was curious of the fried ice cream.

Out of curiousity, I immediately went inside the store. Since there was no other customers inside so I took the opportunity to talk the store crew about the fried ice cream. What she told me was that part of the process of ice cream making, there is a frying procedure made.

After talking with the store crew for a few minutes, I checked their menu. They have various of ice cream flavors but what caught my attention first was the malunggay or moringa ice cream.

I asked the crew about the taste of moringa ice cream. She told me that it's delicious. Since I wanted to taste it by myself I ordered 1 cup of moringa ice cream. I thought I could choose the size of the cup, however, to my surprise they don't have other size except the 520ml size. The size is too big for me but I still bought it. It only costs approximately $1.55.

As I opened it, I immediately recognize the moringa inside the cup. Before I started eating, I told myself that I am confident that I like the taste because moringa is one of my favorite vegetables. You can't smell the moringa but you can see some moringa powder in a cup.

I grabbed my spoon and took a little scoop of moringa ice cream. After I tasted it for the first time, I took many scoops as the taste was really addicting. Although it has already mixed with milk and other ingredients but the dominant taste is the moringa but you can still taste its sweetness.

I admit I really like the moringa ice cream but since the size is really big for me I wasn't able to finish it. There was a little amount of ice cream left in the cup. The 520ml is too much for 1 person but if you're fan of ice cream and sweets maybe you can finish it.
