Happy Sunday Hivers!
This no itinerary trip happened last year.
Sometimes the well-organized trip gets me bored. I find it boring when I only follow what's on my itinerary so there were times when I travel I don't make itinerary, I don't even book a room in advance. I will just look for a room when I'm already in a certain place. I find it challenging especially when it's already dark and I still don't have room to stay. Well, call me weird but I truly do it.
The long hours of traverse from South to North of Cebu is no joke. It takes approximately 10 hours of travel. After my 1 month stay in Samboan, Cebu I decided to go to the northern part since I haven't explored it yet. Most of the places in North is unfamiliar because I only went there once and it was long time ago.
After I traversed for almost 10 hours from south of Cebu I stopped at Hagnaya port with no definite plan. My mind was debating if I would get a ticket bound to Bantayan Island or if I will sleep over in San Remegio. After few minutes of contemplating, I chose the latter since I haven't been to San Remegio yet. I've heard that the place has also beautiful white sand beaches so after I made up my final decision I hired a tricycle driver to convey me in San Remegio beach.
It was 4PM when I arrived in San Remegio so obviously I still have time to look for a room and hike in the beach. There are many beach resorts in San Remegio and looking for a room is not difficult especially during weekdays. Thanks to my accomodating driver who'd helped me to find a cheaper one.
After I settled my room and fixed myself, I immediately went to the white sand beach. The sand was not powdery, however, I liked it. That's the perfect sand grain I constantly looking when I do earthing because I can feel a little bit pain on my feet.
Aside from the perfect sand grain, I also liked the sand's temperature because it was warm, I found it relaxing. The beach that time was not bustling because it was weekday. There were only few beach goers and most of them were teenagers.
Most of the beach goers enjoyed swimming. I only saw few people in the shoreline.
I was delighted as I was able to capture the sun that was about to set during my San Remegio visit. It was beautiful.
Although the place had slowly turned into dark but I could still see children enjoying the sea water. But if the sea is placid, would you like to get out from the water? Maybe only few people, right?
I left the beach when the surrounding was already dark and the beach goers were slowly left the area.
After my hike in the beach, I strolled around until I was able to come across this spot.
There is a barbeque station so I stopped by and ate. I haven't regretted because the taste of the food was truly delicious. After eating, I just stayed in the area for a while and enjoyed watching people come and go before I went back to my room.
On the next day, I roamed around until I was able to discover their adorable church. I know it is a Catholic Church.
So I came closer. The church was closed and no one was around. I tried to find even one person because there was something that truly bothers my mind that time.
Do you know what?
I know it is a Catholic Church but what bothers my mind until this time was why there are statue of lions in front of the church. I was not used to see statue of lions at the church. I usually see statue of Angels. I researched why there is a statue of lions at San Remegio church but I couldn't find the answer on the internet.
As I went back to my room, I kept thinking of it. I asked one of the locals about it and his reply was "I don't know", so until this time I am still thinking the reason behind it.
That was my experience in San Remegio, although I haven't fully explored the area but I was happy during my stay. The place is beautiful and safe; and the locals are friendly.
Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!
