Happy Monday Hivers!
As the negotiation was over for my whole itinerary, the motorcycle driver gave me his spare helmet and I wore it immediately after it was landed to my hands. After I had worn it properly, I quickly took a ride on the motorcycle and we immediately left the bus terminal for our first stop. Our first stopped was in Tuburan Coffee Farm.
As we were on the halfway to the farm, we were instructed to stop and standby for few minutes because there was a mixer truck blocked on the road meters away due to on-going road construction. We stopped for a while and when the road was already free, we continued our journey.
As we reached to this part, I requested the driver to stop since I'd felt anxious due to the steeper road. It seems that I was unsafe if I continued riding.
The road was so steep and curve and I've noticed cliffs beside. There were no concrete railings so I felt more anxious. I was skeptical to continue since I can't assure my safety.
When the driver suggested an idea to just take a walk going uphill, I took his brilliant suggestion immediately. And do you know what? The short walk made me jubilant as I was able to capture the nice scenery of the mountains. I was glad for I was surrounded with scenic view.
I haven't regretted the time I decided to get off from the motorcycle and took a hike, although it was tiring but I was glad because I was able to enjoy the nature.
I breathe deeply as I was almost over to this part of the road that truly made me anxious.
After a while, the driver gave me an assurance that the road ahead is not that steep compared to the previous road we took. Since I trusted his words, I rode the motorcycle again.
The driver asked me if I wanted to stop in Atabay Peak (not in my itinerary). Since he suggested that idea, I gladly accepted it. I like that too.
The Atabay Peak is just located along the road. It is not difficult to locate. According to the driver, many campers will come here during weekends and this place becomes festive.
The driver told me that behind me is the soon to rise Seven Eleven Convenience Store.
Finally, after about 30 minutes of travel we were able to arrive in the farm safe. Welcome to Tuburan Coffee Farm!.
As we arrived in the farm, we asked someone who can accompany me to tour around. The head farmer voluntered to do it by himself, I was grateful since he was able to explain to me the procedure on how they produce an organic coffee from farm to table.
We went first to the nursery area. He showed to me the four different selection of the robusta coffee.
After few minutes, we headed to what they call the mother plants. The assigned staff explain to me that we could grow coffee beans from seeds; however, it takes years to bear fruits. Unlike of growing cutting coffee, bearing of fruits is possible in just 18 months.
Next, we headed to the coffee farm. Most of them were already have fruits. They were able to harvest 5 kilos of coffee beans each week.
This is the robusta coffee beans. Some of the fruits were already slowly turning into red.
Since I haven't tried to harvest a coffee beans yet, I asked my guide if I could pick even one fruit and luckily he allows me.
This is the reason why I really admired farmers, they will be able to produce foods by their own hands. I think the government should give their full support to the farmers because without them we don't have foods we put in our table.
Next, we headed to the area where the fresh harvested beans were gathered for the natural-dry process. They spread it out to dry in the sun.
This is the natural dry-process. It takes 5-6 days to dry but sometimes it depends to the weather.
After our farm tour, someone prepared coffee for us, it was just free. I'm not a coffee lover because it can triggers my insomnia but I like the aroma of the coffee. But when the staff offered me a cup of coffee, I accepted and drunk it to show my respect. Anyway, it's just only one cup.
