Blog #123: Let Me Tour You in Oboob Mangrove Garden / Eco-Park | Known as Camp Sawi in Bantayan Island

I was curious in this place way back 2016 or 2017 (not really sure of the year) because many of my friends posted in their facebook account about Camp Sawi and Camp Wagi. I thought the name of the place is Camp Sawi but I was absolutely wrong. What's in the plaçe and why is it known as Camp Sawi? Check this out.
Two weeks ago, I went to Bantayan Island. Although I was not able to explore everything in the place but atleast I was able to visit some of their famous tourist spots.
One of the famous tourist spots that I had visited was the Oboob Mangrove Garden/Eco Park.
I hired a tricycle going to this spot. As I arrived, someone instructed me to pay the ecological fee together with my entrance fee.
After paying, I immediately headed to the mangrove garden. Are you ready for the virtual tour?
This is the entrance area going to the mangrove garden. Do you know what's in my mind during that time? I asked myself "Where's the sign Camp Sawi?".
Since no one is around I just kept that question to myself and I continued walking.
This is the only way going to the Mangrove Garden. The walkway going to the Mangrove Garden is made up of bamboo.
The curiousity drove me again as I saw the word OMAGIECA. What is it?
When someone told me that the native building behind me is a restaurant, I went there to have some refreshments and do you know what? I was able to find the answer of my questions why is it called Camp Sawi and what is OMAGIECA means.
While taking rest inside the OMAGIECA'S RESTAURANT, I was able to talk one of the members in OMAGIECA and he was able to answer all questions in my head.
When I started to tour myself in the Mangrove Garden, the things that the member of the organization shared to me in the restaurants still lingered in my mind.
OMAGIECA means Oboob Mangrove Garden Integrated Ecotourism Conservation Association
It is a community organization who protects and maintains the mangrove garden. They were the same people who run the small businesses around like restaurant or the food stalls or souvenier stalls inside and outside the Mangrove Garden.
As per information given, some of the profits they have earned goes to the maintenance of the mangrove garden and some of it goes to community outreach program.
I thought that the mangrove tree has no different type but as I've read the signs I just knew about it. They wrote the mangrove's local name and scientific name.
Walking around the mangrove garden makes me feel relax because I was surrounded with full of green foliage.
Finally, I was able to see the sign Camp Sawi. Why is it known as Camp Sawi?
Year 2016, there was a Filipino movie entitled Camp Sawi. It is a comedy-drama where a group of brokenhearted women goes to a resort that specializes in helping people ease their pain. Some of the scenes were shot in Oboob Mangrove Garden. After the released of the movie, this place was became famous as Camp Sawi.

If there is a sign Camp Sawi, they also put Camp Wagi sign on the other side of the garden.
When you get tired in strolling around, they have provided a resting area. If you are fan of fish, you can do fish feeding in this area.
There were many cottages around the mangrove garden.

As I arrived in this area, I was afraid because the place looks so creepy. I was alone as I crossed in the Mangrove Tunnel so I walk very fast.
After crossing the mangrove tunnel, I met this cute little boy who enjoyed running on the walkway.
Although it was a very long walk but I enjoyed the moment I strolled around because I was with the nature. The area is huge so your php55.00 you've paid is definitely worth it.
