A pick and pay concept is a thing I wanted to try in the strawberry farm. I don't want to just simply grab the strawberry fruit from the grocery store. I always have in mind that it might be nice to be surrounded with reddish fruits and you pick it by your own hands before you pay for it but unfortunately, there's no strawberry farm in my place.
But few days back I was happy because I was able to pick the chayote by my own hands. Though it was not strawberry but still it gave me a nice feeling.
Agriculture is the main livelihood in the mountainous part of Valencia, Negros Oriental. We we're not surprise if we see a lot of crops beside the road or beside the pathway going to the top of the mountains.
As we traversed to the jumping-off point of Kuridas mountain, I saw a lot of chayotes fruit still hanging on its vine. It is one of the scenery that entertains me.
I never thought that the teenager who voluntered to be our tour guide has many chayotes plant at their backyard.
After the long hike, we asked her if we could washed our hands at their house. When she took us to their house we were amazed of the chayote at their backyard. The fruits were already big and ready for the harvest. My friend expressed her intention to buy chayote and we were astonished because it was just cheap. The big chayote was only costed Php7.00 each, it is very cheap but this is already expensive when bought in the market.
I voluntered to pick the chayotes by myself. I felt overjoyed as I harvested the chayotes. I picked 3 chayotes because my friend buy only 3 but to my surprise, our tour guide picked another one and gave it for free.
What I like in pick and pay concept is that the customers have the liberty to choose which one to pick. You can truly choose good quality of a certain product. The concept may also attracts a quite number of customers and gives a unique experience to them.
