Hornet

This is a type of wasp but the popular name is Bald-Faced Hornet. We get these in my backyard although I haven't seen many so far this year. They're not as big and scary as this one looks through my macro lens.

Harpist

A harp player is called a harpist. Here we see a harpist entertaining the tourists. Take a close look at those tourists... aren't they charming? Since they stopped coming here, it seems like this whole town is out of work.

Hill

I don't know what else to call this except a hill. It's too small to be a mountain and too large to be a rock. I saw this while on a cross-country road trip, somewhere in southern British Columbia, Canada.

Hummingbird

One of my favourite birds... this is a female Anna's Hummingbird. (Calypte anna)

Haunted

Does this place look haunted to you? Maybe not during the day, but let me assure you - this building is on the list of the top-ten most haunted houses in Canada.

Here is Craigdarroch Castle at night - in spooky black and white. The current owners of this place run it as a museum, and they don't want the haunted history of the castle publicized. I don't know why... I'd be promoting it! Anyway, if you show up there with a couple of cameras and a model dressed in a long white dress hoping to stage some ghost shots, they'll throw your ass right out of there! Just saying...

Horses and Humans... Can we talk?

We have several horse and carriage businesses in Victoria. Some people are very upset about this. I mean they were upset - these photos are from 2017. Today we have other stuff going on.

Listen... I thought we - the human race - made a deal with the horses 35,000 years ago. Like back when we discoved fire and invented the wheel. We agreed to feed the horses and protect them from wolves and lions. In return, they agreed to pull our little wagons around. We still good with that deal?

These are big, strong horses, but damn! Some of those humans could afford to drop a couple of pounds, you know?!? Horses in this this town seem to be working pretty hard.

If I was a horse, you know what I'd do? Well, I'd head off to Montana where I'd romp and play on frosty autumn mornings with all my horse buddies... and if the wolves come back, I won't have to outrun them.

I'll just have to outrun you!
