Brač is the biggest island in Dalmatian area. Also it has the highest peak on all Croatian islands - Vidova gora, 712 m above sea level.
I always like to visit trails on Brač because of the diversity they offer - running along turqouise coloured sea or getting really high in the dark pine tree woods close to the summit.
The island has very good connections with mainland . Almost every hour on relation Split - Supetar.
I started on the south side of the island and the plan was to go by the old monestary Pustinja Blaca.
Monestary started as a small hermitage in 15 century inside the cave deep in the Blaca canyon. Through the centuries it growed into cultural, economical and scientific center of Brač and region of Dalmatia.
After 2 hours, 45 minutes and 24 kilometers and 850 meters of total altitude gain i reached the summit, Vidova Gora.
It is one of the best viewpoints on Adriatic sea. Down below you can see the most famous Croatian beach - Zlatni rat, meaning The golden cape. Interesting is that changes it's shape depending on the sea curents.
Little after I met with my girlfriend and went on the north side of the island, to small place Sutivan
Sutivan has unique graveyard because of the catacombs, which were made somewhere in the 19th century.
Tired but happy, we met our friends and went to the oil museum in small village Škrip for a snack. The family that owns the museum makes the meals only with what they produce on their own. Olive pasta ( black and green) is one of the best things I have ever tried. And after that I recommend their figg jam. Soooo tasty.
