Every four years, the best soccer players from around the world compete for the most wanted trophy in the game. For Peru, they have not qualified for the tournament in almost 36 years. On Wednesday, 31 of the 32 World Cup teams had been determined. The last spot was between New Zealand and Peru down to the second leg of a two match playoff, win and get in. Right before the playoff to get in the World Cup, Peru’s top player, Paolo Guerrero was suspended by FIFA on doping charges. Even without their best player Peru was determined to classify to Russia 2018. Peru came in with confidence, aggressiveness, and relentlessness and pulled out a 2-0 victory to accomplish something so big for a country that has followed its team through all its down time. The moment Peru scored its first goal, it set off earthquake alarms in Lima,Peru from the celebration. So with the 32nd team in the World Cup, we’re set for groups and around the corner from Russia 2018.
