So! The first time in the history of art (or at least in my art career) my drawings actually got published on a real paper for a real people! This summer I secretly worked on a drawings for 2018 year calendar project and now I have a hard copy of them in my hands! It's a table calendar with silly cartoons for every month. They made about 1000 copies of it and it is a real big deal for me.

A little back story.

The guys I worked with for another art project before contacted me and asked if I want to make drawings for their calendar. They told me that it will be distributed as a gift at the conferences and tech exhibitions. I was totally excited, because I love when my doodles go into a real life. But... thing is - they sell tools, vanes and stuff for vacuum pumps. It is kind of niche product so it was quite a challenge for me to adapt my cute doodle art style with a little animals and funny people for this theme.

The concept that came to my mind was to show how the box with their product is travelling somewhere far away across a foreign country to the buyer. Each month - new country. It's sounds a bit boring, but take a look at this page:

See! Lil' elephant with his mother just marching through the street in India. One of my favorite pages.

That's how calendar looks when it's closed:

And from the back:

Another photo of another page:

I love to draw black and white drawings with just a little spot of colors on it and my customers were very happy with my style :) And from my side of view I'm pretty satisfied with what I've done too! I've made 14 pictures for this project (actually more, since some of them were declined) + 12 thumbnails. It wasn't easy job, but it was worth it.

You know what? I think I will post more pages of this calendar later with some comments, thoughts on a process of creation and sketches. Let me know if you a interested in this stuff :)
