My step sis came running to me...I watched as tears flow uncontrollably down her cheeks. I wondered what had happened. But from what I could see I knew something was definitely wrong. I mean, I know my sis so well. Maybe not so well but at least to an extent. She isn't one of those females who is easily prone to tears. She rarely shed a tear. And for the years we've spent together, I mean growing up till now, this would be the third time I would witness such a scene. The first was when grandma died. She was so close to her that at some point we all began to suspect some sort of relationship between them. But each time it was said to their face all they did was laugh. Grandma would say ; my children, I love you all, just that my Jane is very special and dear to me. The second was when she failed her high school qualifying exam. She cried uncontrollably till she slept off.
It was a thing of shame that her friends and colleagues would be a year ahead of her in school. All she needed was about thirty percent to meet up with the required score for high school. I was prepared for this exam, I read, skipped meetings, gatherings and hangouts just so I could study well! she shouted as she cried. It was indeed a bad time for her as grandma wasn't around to console her. It took a while before she eventually got over it. And now, here she is face swollen and soaked with tears.
I sat her down and as soon as her bump rested on the wooden stool I asked; what is it Jane? With my right arm slightly patting her back. What! I exclaimed after she relayed what had happened. I couldn't find words to express myself at that time, so I told her to go in with the promise that I would come speak to her later. Amidst the cloud of ravaging thoughts, I searched for my book, picked up a pen and wrote her a response.
You want to find out what happened to my step sis that made her cry so much for the third time? Read the poem below and find out....
You were swift to spread your legs
Biko, why the tears?
He didn't have to lay a snare
All he needed to get the job done was a stare.
He winked,
And like the rush of many waters your heart pricked
You felt the contraction and expansion of your biceps
Oh, how you wished for him to take those steps
He did.
But now, the deed is now a misdeed
Because in the process he planted a seed
Oh, you were swift to spread your legs my dear
Why sit here and shed the crocodile tears?
See,
The deed has been done
I mean, there is nothing new under the sun.
You are in line to be a mother
Cheer up, get up!
It's time to make preparations on how to get my brother something much more than a feeder.
