While people around the world resolve to eat better and go to the gym, the People’s Republic of China has a more ambitious New Year’s Resolution: land on the moon. Beginning as early as 2007, China has always been interested in exploring outer space the way the Americans and Soviets used to. The fact they have the money to finance these scientific pursuits is evidence of a growing economy; many believe it to be the sign of an emerging new superpower. Resembling (in many ways) the United States in the early part of the 20th century, at least from an economic perspective.
