I mentioned it elsewhere but it is actually the feeding of these monkeys on the part of the temple that lead to them over-populating the area. There is enough natural food in this area for about 1/2 of the existing population and that is a completely made up number. The monks tell me that the population exploded once it became a thing to sell food to tourists to give to them. Now they have a bad situation on their hands. Unfortunately, the only way this problem will be solved is to stop feeding them and this just seems so terribly inhumane since unlike the dogs, we can't sterilize these guys.
