What's that? a "Giant Tree Hutt"? (That's what we call it anyway) located in Auckland's Waitakere ranges. It's always a magical and peaceful atmosphere at Arataki.

Highly recommend visiting if you are ever in Auckland. But remember to wash your boots before entering any Kauri forests - our special Kaitiaki - The Kauri tree has been affected by Kauri Die back disease. Sadly our largest known Kauri tree Tane Mahuta is also in danger, it's important we protect these ancient eco systems. There is a Rahui (ban) on many forests in the Waitakere Ranges.

Hands on Creatures.

We also checked out one of the many educational kids programs "hands on creatures" on at the Arataki Visitors center while we were there. Some very beautiful & creepy creatures were held & learnt about.
