Blessed day dear NeedleWorkMonday friends, I wish you a nice and peaceful weekend, that you can rest and share with your loved ones. As I told you in my previous post, I am very happy to have a few days off so I can dedicate myself to do what I love the most and what relaxes me the most: crochet. Every day after doing housework, I take some time to crochet while I enjoy a movie or listen to an audiobook. I think I really needed to have these moments of peace and relaxation again.
In this post I share with you my project from yesterday, a very simple but super relaxing project, besides being very useful. Yesterday I was spending time with my family, we are a very big family so family gatherings involve a lot of hustle and bustle, laughter and commotion. However, I always manage to find a moment to take out my crochet and start knitting something simple and entertaining. This time, I had to make some scrunchies for my daughter, so I chose the colors I was going to use and started knitting while talking with my sisters.
This type of hair accessory has become fashionable again, although I think they have never stopped being used. The new thing is that now they are called "Scrunchies", previously we used to call them "mo帽eras" "coletas" "coleteros" among other terms that vary according to the region. The thing is that my daughter told me that she wanted some scrunchies to catch her hair when she exercises, I immediately thought of weaving some for her and I got to work.
What characterizes this accessory is that it consists of a rubber band that is lined with silk, lycra, cotton, velvet or any other material. In my case, I used acrylic yarn, knitting low stitches all around the edge until the garter was completely covered. Then I made a round of increases to give more volume to the ponytail. The following loops are knitted in single crochet until the desired size is obtained.

I made a total of three ponytails. To one of them I added a woven bow to make it a little different. This bow is very easy to knit, you only have to knit a rectangle in stretch stitch and then sew a smaller rectangle in the center to give it the shape of a bow.
The other two pigtails I knitted in gray and aqua green. The border detail is made by knitting a round of slip stitches with the new color and then a last round of single crochet.
I find both models beautiful and very easy to knit, the process is so fun and fast that I think I will be making many more knitted scrunchies to give to my nieces and some friends. It was a pleasure to share with you once again, greetings and blessings.
