Happy and blessed start of the week to all my Hive friends, especially to my NeedleWorkMonday colleagues. We meet again on a new NeedleWorkMonday to say hello and share our projects. I hope you had a nice vacation and were able to rest and recharge your batteries. As for me, I had a great time in the comfort of my home, it was a very quiet few days, which I took advantage of to finish some pending projects. In this post I share with you the project that kept me entertained and at the same time very relaxed yesterday.
The project I present to you today is a small and simple crochet dream catcher. The material I used was raw wick yarn, a plastic ring, needle, scissors and some wooden beads. Needle, scissors and some wooden beads.
I have always been particularly attracted to dreamcatchers and mandalas. For a long time I had wanted to make a small dreamcatcher in white, however, yesterday I decided to do it with raw wicker thread because I really like the rustic touch that this type of material gives it. According to what I've been reading about dreamcatchers, this object consists of a hoop, usually made of wood, a woven mesh in the center of the hoop and some hanging feathers. Supposedly, the function of the woven mesh is to filter dreams to take only the positive and discard the negative from them. These objects that look like simple ornaments are usually placed at the head of the bed to promote a peaceful and pleasant sleep, as it is said that nightmares and bad dreams will be trapped in the net.
To weave the net of this dream catcher I was guided by a pattern I got on the web. It is a very simple pattern and it is very fast to knit. After completing the net, I lined the plastic hoop by knitting low stitches until the whole hoop was covered.
For the hanging part I made some leaves in tunisian stitch to look like feathers. I also placed several strands of pabilo thread and some wooden beads. The final details for the decoration were two flowers in puff stitch and some green leaves in tunisian stitch.
Making this dream catcher was really relaxing, I really enjoyed the experience and I would love to make some more in different patterns and maybe a little more colorful. For now I loved the final result of this project and of course I loved sharing it with all of you. Thank you for reading and for your constant support; greetings and blessings.
