A Blessing in Breath
In the still of the morning,
Before birdsong starts soaring,
My breath creeps deep,
Rousing me from sleep.
I don't want to wake,
But gather the effort it takes,
To rise with the dawn,
Stretch, sigh, and yawn.
I roll out my mat,
Start moving like a cat,
Find the strength I need,
To plant a new seed.
Each day brings hope,
To help me cope
With the myriad things
Life's challenges bring.
Like this ever-loving breath,
I ride between birth and death,
I know every low
Is just a temporary blow.
The sorrow, the struggle,
The grief, the trouble,
The rage, the fear,
Call forth cleansing tears.
The lows make the highs
That much more divine.
Joy, love, and laughter,
Come with the next chapter.
Every day is a gift.
I choose to uplift
Myself and those around me.
This practice grounds me.
Each breath is precious.
May this day bless us.
May each night bring release.
May each soul know peace.
