Hello Errybunny!
So, I’m a carpenters daughter right?
And SOMETIMES, just sometimes I give all of you a sneak peak behind the scenes of wiodwork in the process.
Today I’m going to show you some sleeper cabinet doors being sprayed! ☺️
Okay so when you’re varnishing your wood a clear liqueur you don’t want to apply it with a paint brush because it streaks and some of the bristles stay behind. Also it will be runny.
Here’s my dad air spraying those sleeper doors!
What is sleeper, you might ask!
Well sleeper is heavy whood that was cut up and laid down for old railway train tracks.
As we move into a modern age and leave behind the old wood tracks and the fire power steam trains, the sleeper is replaced with steel for more electric trains.
Cool right?
Sleeper is a heavy wood that’s not easy to cut or work with. But it’s well worth the rustic kind of finish, especially if you brush it over with a steel brush.
⭐️ Always remember to put on a mask while air spraying the varnish on any real wood, as it tends to be harsh on your lungs.
So, railway sleeper is one of the more sold woods you can get. It’s oily and burns your skin when you’re grinding it down (ask me)
My dad can make anything out of sleeper. If there’s something that can be made out of wood, my dad can do it 🖤
To me, sleeper wood is very stylish, well as furniture. I don’t know if that’s true for everyone. I’m sort of a weirdo, so I don’t really like things that looks like a thousand other peoples things, made by some factory.
This type of wood gives it a rough yet home feel to everything.
Well, that’s all from me and sharing some of the things we do here in South Africa, with our businesses.
Love
🖤
