My amsterdam experience (200 kms from home so also always stay somewhere there) is that hotels and airbnbs in price dont really make a difference. Just keep your eye out for a discount once you know where the venue is around the corner. Uber is expensive and public transport as well I find (you can lend bikes though)

I will be hunting myself, and if I had the choice and endless HBD..I would stay on one of those boats haha
