When I lived the Caribbean, I was always surprised about how people reacted to rain. Rain just meant: stay indoors period. As a European person I didn't get this in the beginning, it took a while.
Until one day I drowed my car in a gigantic puddle in a rainstorm. Nothing special about this rainstorm, there was just a lot of water. Like a lot. And I was too arrogant to just see that they were right. Island and rain don't add up! Water came over the hood, the engine caughed a couple of time and that was it. Bye bye car!
Also when walking until work when it rained in the Caribbean was pointless. I would walk in soaked while every colleage and patient would wait until the rain had stopped. Things are just different.
Back into the now: Switzerland has been having a crap load of thunder storms this week and my normal tactic of just sitting it out doesn't apply here always. So I had to walk throuh this massive wall of water pouring down. The tactic? A good umbrella, flipflops and small steps. Actually it was beautiful!
