Acroyoga is one of my favorite hobbies. It takes a lot of trust and communication with your partner to nail a trick. One of my favorite types of tricks to fly is called “pops.” There are so many ways people can pop you.
I think what I most enjoy about pops is the movement it creates. Sometimes it can feel a bit scary because you are being thrown, and you must trust that your base will catch you. It takes a lot of calibration to nail pops. I think the thrill and excitement factor is also part of the fun!
I thought I would share with you a couple of different pops I like to do.
The first one is called, squirrel pops! If done correctly you can be thrown really really really high! If the flyer pushes back on the base as they are being popped, it will create more momentum, which will toss the flyer higher. I love the feeling of flying in the air.
The next pop, is throwing the flyer from bird position to throne position and then from throne to bird. Here I am giving baby pops to my friend Daniel, who usually bases me. It is fun to switch up the rolls!
If you really want to feel your heart skip a beat, you can even get tossed in the air! Here I am being thrown up high!
I hope you found this blog post entertaining! What do you like to do for fun?
love,
Karen
